Guidance

When to use

  • A message that belongs to the page or a section: a deadline, a problem with what's shown, a result.

When not to use

  • A brief confirmation of something the person just did – use a Toast.
  • A question that blocks the person – use a Dialog.

Rules

  • Always an icon and a title – never colour alone.
  • Say what happened and what to do next: We couldn't upload 2 files. Files must be under 25 MB.
  • Destructive is for errors; for everything else use the default.
